West Vancouver, BC; July 27, 2009 – Park Royal, working closely with the West Vancouver Police Department, has invested in the installation of a new state of the art electronic video surveillance system. The system is designed to better monitor the common areas of the shopping centre and provide a safer environment for customers.
“Protecting the well being of our customers has always been a top priority for us,” says Rick Amantea, Vice President, Park Royal Shopping Centre. “Simply put, we see this as an important part of maintaining the trust and confidence our customers have in Park Royal.”
The new system will allow Park Royal Security to more effectively capture and store data and draw upon information when needed. The content of the surveillance will only be available to Park Royal Security, WVPD and other law enforcement agencies if needed in the event of an incident at Park Royal.
“The WVPD is extremely supportive of Park Royal’s decision to install this new state of the art system,” says Interim Chief Constable Jim Almas, West Vancouver Police Department. “This system will allow for great strides to be made in the prevention of crime by ensuring the Park Royal Shopping Centre remains a very safe and secure place to shop and do business.”
The new surveillance system will be operational beginning July 27th, 2009 and is a significant improvement from the system currently in place.
