Mother’s Day at Park Royal
-by Catherine Dunwoody

Spending some time with the woman who you can pretty much credit for passing on all her good qualities to you is lovely anytime. On Mother’s Day? It’s a must. And your time to spoil her and thank her for yet another year of being there for you, always. Treat her to an afternoon of fun, starting here.

Cactus Club Cafe

Take mom for lunch at one of her favourite restaurants at Park Royal, follow it with a bit of shopping, and you’ll be in her good books for a very long time. The Tuna Poke Bowl at Cactus Club Cafe is one of the freshest, most flavourful dishes on their menu, made with Ocean Wise™ ahi tuna, jasmine rice, mango, cucumber, avocado, edamame, radish, crispy tempura plus sesame and ginger. Since you’re celebrating, make sure to order her a Frose™ cocktail, which is like a luscious adult slushy made with rosé wine, strawberries, elderflower, Smirnoff vodka and lemon. Here’s to you Mom.

The Keg

Extra special when you know that this Keg location is not usually open for lunch, but is opening its doors for Mom just for her special day. The menu prices include a choice of salad, main course and seafood. Meaning that mom can go classic Keg-style and start with an iceberg wedge with bacon and bleu cheese dressing, followed by filet mignon topped with shrimp and scallop Oscar. Or she can choose lighter fare with baked salmon, asiago rice and asparagus. Loads of other choices to choose from, and be sure to make a reservation in advance. Can’t swing it that day? Give mom a Keg gift card (which never expires) that she can enjoy anytime. Maybe if you’re lucky she’ll ask you to join her. See? I’m always in your corner.

Village Tap House

Brunch is always a big hit on any Sunday, and extra nice for Mother’s Day. At The Village Taphouse Mom can choose from Mexican classic huevos rancheros with its spicy fire roasted salsa, or a super satisfying fried egg sandwich with bacon and avocado on a brioche bun, or the Ambleside – old school bacon and eggs done just the way she likes. Sunday drink specials could mean a Caesar is in order here too. After brunch, challenge mom to a game at the outdoor pool table if the sun is shining, then stroll through The Village for a bit of shopping. Perfect Mother’s Day? We think so.
