A few things Dads are known for? Being goofy, making those super lame ‘Dad’ jokes and being the always selfless guy, who says they don’t want anything for Father’s Day. So, whether you are shopping for your Dad, the Father of your kids, your Step Dad, your Father-in-law or all of them, here are the things he doesn’t know he wants, but most certainly deserves.
You can’t go wrong at Home Depot
This store is a treasure of things Dad will be over the moon to get on Father’s Day, but there are a few things that stood out to me as no brainers:
A Brand New BBQ – There is truly no better time to surprise Dad with this! Father’s Day does fall right before grilling season starts, so really, what better way to kick it off than with a shiny new grill.
Home Depot has a huge selection, ranging from portable, gas, charcoal and wood pellet BBQ’s. And, right now, they are offering free delivery and assembly on all Weber grills. I don’t know about you, but the idea of having a fully set up and ready to go BBQ on Father’s Day, seems like a great way to start grilling season.
If you are looking for an amazing deal, check out the Nexgrill Evolution Infrared Plus, 5 burner stainless steel propane BBQ. Doesn’t the name just sound like you’d get perfectly grilled food every time you use it? And, it doesn’t break the bank either! Only, $496!
If you’re set BBQ wise, Home Depot always carries some super fun Summer items like the Ryobi floating, light show, Bluetooth speaker. Yes, it is as cool as it sounds. Dad can bring this gadget anywhere from a pool party, to a day on the boat or weekend at the lake.
Golf Tech from Best Buy
Who has a Dad or Father-in-law who loves to golf? Is your hand raised? Because mine is! Typically, you’d think that they already have all the latest and greatest in golf gear, but Best Buy Canada is here to give you a hand up and surprise your golf crazy Dad with the latest in tech wearables like the Garmin Approach S20 Golf GPS Watch.
Not only will this watch help him perfect his swing, it has built in GPS which lets you know how far you are from the pin, hazards and more. In addition, it also detects every swing, measuring the shot distance and recording the data for you to study later, it has a digital scorecard, and it’s water-resistant and dustproof.
A gift that keeps on giving in my opinion 🙂
It’s all in the details at Indigo
Have you ever noticed how most Dads care so much about all the little details? You know, like vacuuming every last piece of dust in his car (or yours), cutting the lawn absolutely perfectly every weekend and having the most immaculately organized garage?
If the answer is yes, then Indigo has you covered. Their Father’s Day gift collection is all about those extra details that will enrich his life and add joy to the time he gets to spend with you. Some of my favorite picks:
Steak Revolution by Rob Firing:
This book gives the best tips, tricks and details on how to cook the perfect steak every time!
On the rock glass and ice ball gift set:
If Dad is a whiskey lover, this is for him. A slight hand movement will roll the ice ball around the rock at the bottom of the glass evenly and will cool his favorite scotch, whiskey or liquor to perfection.
Gentleman’s Hardware BBQ Multi-tool:
This fun little item can flip a burger, spear a sausage and pop a bottle in a trice. The integral spatula, basting brush, fork, bottle opener and corkscrew will always come in handy at a spontaneous cook-out or beach BBQ.
Serve Up Father’s Day Dinner with Whole Foods
There is nothing better than celebrating Dad with a big, delicious Father’s Day dinner. Since Dad gets to relax and enjoy his day, make the prep easy by heading to Whole Foods to pick up everything you need in one stop.
Pick up their grass-fed ribeye steak and their made in house pork sausages. (*Hint* if you call ahead, you can even special order your favourite flavour or request lamb, bison or turkey options.) Both of these items will be on sale June 12-18. Have some non-meat eaters in the house? No problem! Whole Foods carries the super popular Beyond Meat burgers!
Pre-Made Sides and the freshest produce:
One of my personal favourite things about Whole Foods is that they make the most delicious pre-made salads. Time is much better spent celebrating Dad than slaving away in the kitchen, Am I right? Whole Foods also has the absolute freshest produce! Perfect for veggie plates, snacks for the kids or even to throw on the grill!
Every Dad always needs a new pair of Vans
Anybody else have a Dad who wears the same old shoes year after year? It’s a no brainer to get him a new pair. You need to look for something stylish, on trend, but most importantly, comfortable.
Lucky for us, Vans has come out with the enhanced comfort technology ComfyCush sole, that makes it like you’re walking on a cloud. Best part? The ComfyCush comes in almost all of Vans signature shoe styles like the Old Skool and the slip on.
Make him say “That’s SO cool” with Zing Paperie
There is nothing better than blowing him away with gifts that are next level cool. Zing Paperie in the Village is your go-to spot to do just that. They curate the absolute best in gifts that you’d never even think existed. Here’s what to look for.
Vintage Sports Prints:
Dad needs a card this Father’s Day right? Get him one he’ll want to display proudly. Pick out either a card size print of an iconic sports photo or get the large size version, write a note in the back and after he reads it, return it back to the store to get it custom framed. Add in some of your kids’ art work and you’re good to go!
BBQ Rub that will change his life:
This is not a joke. The Sebastian and Co charcoal rub will literally change his (and everyone else’s) BBQ life. This rub gives any meat, veggie or even fish the most amazing “Asado- Style” taste and it’s extremely easy to use. This is a MUST HAVE in any kitchen.
Code Love Cufflinks:
Cufflinks might not seem like the most original gift, but these ones from Code Love have a pretty cool feature, each cufflink has a Morse code of different sayings inscribed into them. Plus, they are individually lathed and hand finished.
Ultimate Dad Jeans from DUER at Simons
These are not your typical Dad jeans, but these will become the only jeans that Dad wants to wear. I kid you not, every single guy that I know who has tried these on, has never gone back to any other style of jean or pant.
Because of the signature Duer gusset, COOLMAX temperature control and super stretch fabric that all Duer pants have, it makes them the best and most comfortable jean on the market.
Find them on the second floor at Simons in the Men’s denim department!
Happy Shopping & Happy Father’s Day!
