Style Spotting – Park Royal Brings Spring
– By Catherine Dunwoody
I hit the stores hard recently. Happy to report all the hottest trends forecasted months ago online and from the runways have found homes in Park Royal’s A-list boutiques. My fabulous findings? Right here…
COLOUR CRUSH (dress, Maska)
Kelly green. Doesn’t the name inspired by the lush green spring landscape of the Emerald Isle say it all? The silhouette of this classic Dior-esque dress from Maska, with its portrait collar, ¾ sleeves and fit and flare shape is a winner indeed – especially in this standout shade.
PUT A TASSEL ON IT (top, Anthropologie)
Bird motifs are passé. Fashion’s embellishment of choice this season is most definitely the tassel. Fringy, fluttery, colourful bits are appearing on everything from tops, jeans and dresses to handbags and jewelry, especially earrings. Fun, flirty, whimsical tops like this from Anthropologie took a floral print further with the addition of tassels. Love this paired with your most beat-up boy jeans and strappy sandals.
THE URBAN BACKPACK (mens and womens bags, both Simons)
Seems every designer this spring, from Giorgio Armani to Fendi to Balmain and more, showed men and women on the catwalk carrying this essential bag. Whether your style suits a slouchy, soft shape or a slick, structured look – the urban backpack will be your go-to for when you need to bring it all with you. Simons had walls of fantastic options in both the mens and womens departments. Love this peony pink with rose gold hardware, and this local-brand Herschel’s palm frond print with tan straps for the guys.
JEAN JACKETS ARE BACK (denim jacket, Oak + Fort)
Not that denim ever dies; it really just keeps getting reincarnated, am I right? So nice to see the return of the classic jean jacket, for men, women, and kids. This may well be the hardest-working piece in your closet, and one that you’ll wear a zillion different ways. I like it thrown over a dress, instead of a cardigan, like Oak + Fort did by showing it with a simple LBD. Or with a tank and and cropped white pants. Or with gobs of ethnic-y beads and a long jersey skirt. Hardest-working piece. You get the idea.
PINEAPPLE PRINTS (dress, kate spade new york)
Popping up on everything from home décor to fashion for a few seasons now, the spiky tropical fruit has a friendly, fun vibe we can’t get enough of. Kate Spade’s mannequin whispered ‘take me home’, and since the pineapple is indeed the international symbol for hospitality, how could I resist? This sweet, pink, striped dress looks as fresh as a daisy. If daisies were a key ingredient in a Pina Colada that is. Love the flirty, off-the-shoulder neckline option of this sweet chemise too.
Shop Park Royal for these spring must-haves and so much more.
