Shop/Drop/Roll – Teen Shopping Night at Park Royal – August 27, 2010

What a night it was. At 5:30, hundreds of teens came to Park Royal to meet up with Nira Arora from The Beat 94.5, get some of the free food on offer, ride in the limos, or dance with Much Music as part of our first ever Teen Shopping Night. There were dancers performing and Park Royal saw its first ever Flash Mob. Pretty cool. If you missed out, don’t worry…we are doing this again next year! Enjoy the photos.

Hot Rod Saturday at The Village

What a great day for Hot Rod Saturday at The Village. The sun was shining and the engines were revved up for an amazing display of over 150 Hot Rods from around British Columbia. Everyone enjoyed the ambiance of The Village, the band Tomcats played some great dancing tunes, and the sunshine drove many kids into the lovely pond near Whole Foods. It was a great day for everyone and we are already looking forward to 2011!

West Van SPCA Dog Wash Fundraiser

I love animals.  I grew up with both cats and dogs and fully feels that my pets are simply a natural extention of my family.  I don’t have the room for a dog at this point in time, but do have 2 beautiful cats…whom I love dearly.  I am one of those people that chooses to take the dog friendly hiking trail just because seeing all those happy dogs playing makes me happy!!

All this being said, I am a huge supporter of the BCSPCA and I donate monthly to the cause. When I discovered that Whole Foods was having a dog wash to raise funds for the West Vancouver SPCA I was beyond thrilled!  The fundraiser is tomorrow (Saturday July 31st) from 11am – 3pm.  Bring your pooch down for a bath and support this valuable cause.  Each wash is by minimum donation and all funds will go directly to the West Vancouver SPCA… And if you don’t have a dog, just do what I do… plan to come watch!!

Harmony Arts and everything else fabulously summer…

Summer is here…finally!  I walked out my door this morning and it just hit me.  Something about the way the breeze felt, and the fact that it was warm enough to leave the house without having to wear a sweater, confirmed it.  It’s funny how it works but for some reason, I can never really get into my summer planning until the weather turns nice.  I guess I’m just not motivated when it’s rainy and cold.  Now that I’m motivated, I’m looking at the various events coming up and am getting quite excited!

Something I look forward to every year is the Harmony Arts Festival at Ambleside in West Vancouver.  This year, the organizers, obviously recognizing that fans like myself can hardly wait for the event, partnered with Park Royal and are holding a Harmony Arts Preview on Saturday July 10th from 2pm to 4pm.

The event will be held in the centre of The Village right next to the pond and will feature various artists who will be performing during the festival on the Park Royal Fountain Stage.  There is absolutely nothing like a sunny afternoon in The Village enjoying lunch and listening to live music…oh summer on the North Shore…

Summer Fashion Sales

Is it just me or does it seem strange that summer fashion starts going on sale right when summer starts.  Don’t get me wrong; I am not complaining about the fact that the amazing hot pink silk tunic dress from banana Republic was 40% off.  Or at the fact that I’ve finally lost my “winter layer” just in time for bathing suits to go on sale…!!

Either way, I’m counting down the days until the Park Royal Summer Sidewalk Sale running from July 10th – 18th.  See, there are a few tricks to shopping the sidewalk sale successfully (and this is coming from a certified shopoholic with the mantra “look your very best for less”).

First of all, get there early and within the first couple of days of the sale.  This way you’ll have access to the best variety of items, sizes styles etc…

Secondly, there is often a perception that the sidewalk sale is all about getting rid of stuff that didn’t sell in the first place.  This is absolutely not true.  Sure, there is going to be the odd item that, well, isn’t all that popular, but for the most part this is the time when stores have all of their fall merchandise coming in and they need to clear their shelves.  For you this means major discounts on fantastic stuff.

So mark it down in your calendar and get ready to shop till you drop!!
